Jon L. Hollinger

JON L. HOLLINGER, age 53 of Waterville, died on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.

Born in Hennepin County, Minnesota, on April 30, 1958, Jon was the son of Louis and Norma (Stoering) Hollinger.  He attended school in Waterville and graduated from Waterville High School in 1976 before attending Golden Valley College.  On July 26, 1980 he was married to Roxane Schoenfeld at the Wilton Trinity Lutheran Church in Waseca County.  Jon worked at Brown Printing in Waseca for 23 years, then later for Border States Electric in Faribault for six years, and finally for Cabela’s for about one year until his illness.  He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville, and he loved fishing, darts, woodworking, and playing bingo.  More than anything, however, he loved spending time with his grandchildren. 

Jon is survived by his wife, Roxane of Waterville; two sons, Joshua Hollinger and his special friend Amanda Yerhot of Faribault, and Cody Hollinger of Waterville; his mother Norma Byron and step-father Belton Russell of Faribault;  two grandchildren, Karissa Yerhot and Ian Hollinger of Faribault; one sister, Cis Christianson of Waterville; one aunt, Donna Pittman and her husband Bob Miller of Waterville; a brother-in-law, Harold Christianson of Madison Lake; a sister-in-law, Kris Opsahl, her son Matthew Opsahl of Minneapolis, and her special friend Larry Hansen of Plainview; one nephew, Brett (Jill) Christianson and family of White Bear Lake; and one niece, Heidi (Matt) Hartman and family of Medina; and many cousins and friends.  He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Hollinger; a step-father, John Byron; his grandfather, Albert Stoering; his grandmother, Celia Schwartz; and a step-grandfather, Otto Schwartz.

Visitation will be held on from 4-8 PM on Friday, September 23, 2011 at the Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home in Waterville, and will continue on Saturday for one hour before the service at the church.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville, with Rev. David Mumme officiating.  Interment will follow at Sakatah Cemetery in Waterville.
