Lawrence Hanks

LAWRENCE E. HANKS, age 81 of Owatonna, died on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at Cedarview Care Center in Owatonna. 

Born on August 31, 1929 in Waterville, Minnesota he was the son of Edward & Bertha (Weber) Hanks.   He attended Horseshoe Lake School in Le Sueur County.  Lawrence married Ramona Coy on January 25, 1950 in Waterville.  He farmed in rural Waterville and Waldorf before moving to Waseca to farm in 1957.  In addition to growing crops, Lawrence also raised registered Black Angus.  He continued to farm until retiring in 1990. He served sixteen years on the Otisco Township Board and had sold DeKalb corn for thirty years.   Lawrence enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, dancing and listening to old time music.

He survived by his wife Ramona of rural Owatonna; six children, Teresa (Cisco) Shere of Malvern, IA, Audrey (James) Klukas of Owatonna, Ralph Hanks of Waseca, Ray (Deb) Hanks of Waseca, Carol Hanks (Paul Osdoba) of Waseca, and Connie (Drew) Grandia of Owatonna;  eleven grandchildren, Crystal Hanks Childs, Joshua Hanks, Serena Shere, Steven Hanks, Jenny Peroutka, Kristina Peltz, Andrew Hanks, Dalton Peltz, Kyle Hanks, Benjamin Grandia, Kaitlyn Grandia; one great granddaughter, Kylee Hanks; one brother and one sister.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren-Clint Klukas and Justin Shere and three brothers.

Visitation will be held at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca Thursday, January 13, 2011 from 4-8 PM and continue one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals with Rev. George Coy officiating.
