WINTER STORM POSTPONEMENT

VISITATION FOR ALAN G. GILOMEN HAS BEEN POSTPONED FROM SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2011 TO TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2011 FROM 4-7 PM AT PROSCH-DENNIS FUNERAL HOME IN WATERVILLE.

 

 

ALAN G. GILOMEN, age 65 of Waterville, died on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at the Waterville Good Samaritan Center.

Born in Milaca, Minnesota on October 11, 1945, Alan was the son of Harold and Mary Ann (Lindesmith) Gilomen.  He went to school in Farmington, Minnesota before accepting his first job at a gas station in Farmington.  Over the years, Alan worked in a bumper plating facility in Minneapolis, at Courtney’s Café and Grocery in Waterville, as a pallet truck driver for H&S Logging and McCarty Logging, driving seed trucks for Northrup King, swathing and thrashing for local farmers, doing machine repair at the Northridge Laundromat in Waseca, and most recently he managed the Union Hotel in Waterville.  Alan had a passion for working on Model-A’s, and was a member of the Twin Cities Model-A organization.  He enjoyed going to car shows and parades.  He had purchased and restored two Model-A’s, a 1928 and a 1930.  He also enjoyed collecting and tinkering with antiques, attending Pioneer Power Swapmeets with his friends, selling car and tractor parts, and spending time visiting with his friends and family.

Alan is survived by his wife, Carollea of Waterville; one daughter, Julie (Dustin) Balfe of Kilkenny; three grandchildren, Greg (Jennifer) Endres of Randolph, Jordan Gilomen and his girlfriend Mylette Thrower of Maplewood, and Derek Balfe of Kilkenny; three siblings, John (Anne) Gilomen of Farmington, Richard (Nancy) Gilomen of West Melbourne, FL, and Karen Gilomen of Ocala, FL; and one daughter-in-law, Lori Endres of Northfield.  He was preceded in death by both of his parents; and one son, James A. Gilomen.

Visitation will be held from 4-7PM on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at the Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home in Waterville.  A gathering to celebrate Alan’s life will be held at a later date.
