GERALD “JERRY” GEHRING, age 69 of Waseca died of cancer on Friday, September 24, 2010 at the Waseca Medical Center.

Born on October 8, 1940 in Waldorf, Minnesota he was the son of Leo and Anna (Adams) Gehring.  He attended Sacred Heart Elementary and graduated from Waseca Central High School in 1958.  Following his schooling, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1958 until his honorable discharge in 1961.  Gerald married Yvonne Malecha on July 23, 1965 in Sioux Falls, SD.  He worked for the Waseca County Highway Department as a road grader operator for 34 years before retiring in 1997.  After his retirement, he continued to work part time as a grader operator for Iosco Township.  He enjoyed going up north deer hunting and most of all his fishing and camping trips to Canada.  He was a member of American Legion Post 228 in Waseca.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne of Waseca; three children, Christopher (Renee) Gehring of Pennsylvania, Kenneth (Nai) Chadderdon of California; and Vicky (Bruce) Nelson of Virginia; four grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-Joseph and Francis, and infant sister-Celest.

Visitation will be held at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca on Friday, October 1, 2010 from 4-7 PM.
