RONALD E. EWEST, age 67 of Waseca, died on Monday, July 13, 2009 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.

Born in Waseca on August 26, 1941, Ronald was the son of Ervin and Harriet (Schaetzke) Ewest.  He graduated from Waseca High School in 1960 and then attended Mankato State University.  He served four years in the United States Navy.  Following his discharge Ron married Monica Stewart November 5, 1966 in Staten Island, New York, at which time he began working on Wall Street in Manhattan.  He continued his career there until 1980.  Ron and his wife moved to Waseca to make their home in 1990.  He enjoyed watching television, particularly sporting events.  He also loved all animals, especially “Angel” the cat.  He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca, and also the Waseca American Legion for 23 years.   

Ronald is survived by his wife, Monica of Waseca; one son, Ronald Ewest, Jr. of Chula Vista; one sister, Scharol Ewest of Waseca; one brother, Darwynn (Peggy) Ewest of Beaumont, TX; three grandchildren; two nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, July 24, 2009 at 2:00 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca with Rev. Terry Quick officiating.  Military honors will be conducted by the Waseca American Legion Honor Guard.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
