Harold Warren Eaton

HAROLD WARREN EATON, age 88 of Waseca, died on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.

Born in Waseca on April 25, 1923, Harold was the son of Oscar and Mabel (Bamford) Eaton.  He attended rural Waseca county schools and Waseca High School.  He then served in the Merchant Marines during World War II.  Following his military service he worked construction in California for a short time before returning to Waseca where he farmed.  On March 3, 1951 Harold married Donna Fowler at the First Methodist Church in Waseca.  She passed away in 1991, after forty years of marriage.  Harold attended Vista Covenant Church, and was a past member of the Farmers Union, Our Gang, and the Keenagers in Owatonna.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, traveling, camping, square dancing, and playing bingo.

Harold is survived by two daughters, Linda Eaton of Waseca, and Susan (Rex) Possehl of New Richland; ten grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Doreen Eaton of Waseca; one brother, Ken (Harriet) Eaton of Waseca, one sister, Emily (Paul) Speakman of Breckenridge, MN; and one brother-in-law, Milan Prechel of Waseca.  He was preceded in death by both of his parents; his wife; two sons, Edgar and James; one brother, Stanley and his wife Dorothy Eaton; and one sister, Mary Prechel.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Friday, January 6, 2012 at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Vista Covenant Church in rural New Richland, with Rev. Steve Thompson officiating.  Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.  Memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association, Diabetes Association or Asthma Association.
