Lois Esther Detjen

LOIS ESTHER DETJEN, age 92 of Waseca passed away peacefully on December 22, 2010 at Thorne Crest Rehabilitation Center in Albert Lea.
Born on February 3, 1918 in Blue Earth County, Minnesota she was the daughter of Frank and Louise (Drehmel) Weyhrauch. Lois married Frederick John Detjen on February 12, 1936. Lois and Fritz farmed in the Waldorf area for several years before moving to Waseca in 1962. Lois was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and day care provider. She had been employed at Bridseye, Brown Printing, and Swift & Co. In 2001 she moved to Colony Court and she loved singing, Bible Study, visiting with friends and family, painting, and arts and crafts. Lois was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca.
She is survived by three daughters, Bonnie Neitzel Waltz and LaJune Sass both of Waseca and Beverly Challgren of Oakdale; nine grandchildren, Pam (Don) Labs, Shelley (Terry) Krueger, Todd Neitzel, Terry Neitzel, Layne (Kate) Sass, Lisa (Jeff) Reese, Linda (Don) Rezac, Lawrence Sass III, and Jonathan (Amanda) Challgren; 27 great grandchildren; and 24 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Ward (Norma) Weyhrauch of Waldorf; sisters-in-law Evelyn Weyhrauch of Waseca, Leanna Weyhrauch of Wells, Margaret Detjen of Farmington and Eva Gruntzke of Wells. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two children, John and Janae Kay Detjen; two sons-in-law, Jerry Waltz and Dwain Challgren; great grandson, John Dahlke; two sisters, Marion Bleess and Alice Ward; and three brothers, Lloyd, Harlan, and Gordon Weyhrauch.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 27, 2010 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca. Visitation will be held on Monday, one hour before services at the church. Burial will follow at First Lutheran Cemetery in Waldorf. |
