ROLAND K. DAHNERT, age 84 of Waseca died on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at his home in Waseca.
Born on February 16, 1926 in Waseca, Minnesota he was the son of Frank and Hilma (Peterson) Dahnert. Roland graduated from Waseca Central High School in 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during WWII from 1944 until his honorable discharge in 1946. Roland married Margaret Mutch on June 27, 1953 in Lake Crystal. He was employed at Herter’s in Waseca for many years and later at Brown Printing Co. until his retirement in 1989. Roland enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, bowling, and loved sports. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Waseca and the American Legion and VFW where he served with the funeral honor guard for many years.
He is survived by his wife Margaret of Waseca; four children, Michael (Darcy) Dahnert of Edina, Steven (Sharon) Dahnert of Glenview, IL, Douglas (Kelli) Dahnert of Queen Creek, AZ, and Jan (Keith) Rauschnot of South St. Paul; eight grandchildren, Kristyne Dahnert, Justin Dahnert, Brooke Dahnert, Scott Dahnert, Logan Dahnert, Ian Dahnert, Kaitlyn Rauschnot, Wyatt Rauschnot; and two great grandchildren, Adin and Olivia Dahnert. He is also survived by one sister, Fern Papke; three brothers, Raymond (Dolores) Dahnert, Russell (Shirley) Dahnert, and Rodger (Vada) Dahnert all of Waseca; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister-Frances Jenniges, and one brother-Robert Dahnert.
Visitation will be held at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 from 4-8 PM and continue on Thursday, one hour before services at the church.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Faith United Methodist Church in Waseca with the Rev. Debra Collum officiating. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
