VIOLA IRENE CLAYTON, age 90 of Waseca, died on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at her residence in Waseca.
Born on September 6, 1920 in New Richland, Minnesota she was the daughter of Hans and Alma (Myhre) Stensrud. Viola attended school in New Richland. She married Lyle Clayton on June 26, 1938 in Garner, Iowa. Vi had worked at various places in Waseca including the E.F. Johnson Co. and Birds Eye before retiring from Herter’s. She enjoyed flowers, bird watching, spending time with friends and family, and was a big fan of the Minnesota Twins. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waseca.
She is survived by three children, James (Lorraine) Clayton of Glenwood, Bonnie Carson of Waseca, and Richard (Becky) Clayton of New London; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Marvel Bickel and Genevieve Dullum both of Mankato; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, four brothers, Olavous, John, Artie, and Herbert; two sisters, Torina and Cora; and one son-in-law, Ronald Carson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 2:00 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca. Visitation will be held on Saturday, one hour before services at the church. Burial will be at St. Olaf Cemetery in New Richland.
