GEORGE D. CLAYTON, age 97 of Waseca died on Thursday, April 10, 2008 at the Lakeshore Inn Nursing Home in Waseca.
Born in Huron, South Dakota on March 9, 1911, George was the son of Harry and Maude (Walworth) Clayton. He graduated from Waseca High School in 1929. While attending high school, he excelled in football, basketball, track, and was an accomplished vocalist. George was married to Madeline “Madge” Munson on March 9, 1937 in Owatonna. After attending trade school to become an electrician, he worked for Howard Deichen in Waseca for many years. He later became a master electrician and operated his own business, Clayton Electric, until his retirement. George enjoyed golfing, playing cards, dancing, and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Waseca, and a past member of the Waseca Lion’s Club and the International Order of Odd Fellows.
George is survived by one son, Ronald (Kathy) Clayton of Sarasota, FL; one daughter, Nancy (Tom) Holochwost of Jonesborough, TN; three grandchildren, John Clayton of River Falls, WI, Michael Clayton of Gainesville, FL, and Lisa Helmer of Johnson City, TN; and one great-grandchild, Brittney Watkins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and two brothers, Roy Clayton and Robert Clayton.
Visitation will be held at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 from 5-8 PM, and will continue on Wednesday one hour before services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Faith United Methodist Church in Waseca.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at Faith United Methodist Church in Waseca with Rev. Neil Westby officiating. Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca. |
