Sarah "Sally" Callahan

 

SARAH “SALLY” MARIE CALLAHAN, age 92 of Waseca, died on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at the Waterville Good Samaritan Center.

 

Born in Caledonia, Wisconsin on June 7, 1918, Sally was the daughter of Eugene and Gertrude (Benson) Callahan.  She attended school in Waseca.  During World War II, she worked in the News Stand in downtown Waseca.  Later, she lived in Minneapolis for about forty years, where she worked for Thomas’s, Donaldson’s, and then for Powers Department Store in the cosmetic lines.  Sally enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and working puzzles.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca.

 

Sally is survived by two siblings, Myron Callahan and Beulah “Bea” Callahan, both of Waseca; and nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Lawrence and Lloyd.

 

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at the Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca with Rev. Marty Schaefer officiating.  Visitation will be held for one hour before services at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
