Victor Bruns

VICTOR BRUNS, age 71 of Waterville died on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

 

Born on February 22, 1940 in St. Peter, Minnesota, he was the son of Arthur and Anna (Havemeier) Bruns.  He attended elementary school in St. Peter and also St. Peter’s “Bell” School.  Following his schooling, Victor farmed with his dad.  He married Joan Kewatt on May 19, 1961 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kilkenny.  He continued to farm and also had his own milk route for several years.  In 1967, Victor and Ron Zellmer began a carpentry business and in the early 1970’s they also started a grave digging business.  Since 1994 he continued to work construction and dig graves with his son Pat.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, old time music, family events, and he especially loved outdoor activities.  Victor was a member of St. Peter’s “Bell” Lutheran Church where he served on the cemetery board.  He was a life member of the Waterville Sportsman Club and a member of the German Jefferson Sportsman Club, the Silver Lake Sportsman Club, and the Southern MN Dark House Association. 

 

He is survived by his wife Joan of Waterville; three children, Jeff (Mary Jane) Bruns, Nancy (Dennis) Delaske and Pat (Carrie) Bruns all of Waterville; seven grandchildren, Amy, Matthew, Joshua, Ashley, Mandy, Hannah, and Callie.  He is also survived by two brothers, Wallace Bruns and his friend, Pat of Altoona, WI and Merlin (Arlene) Bruns of New Ulm, and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one son-Alan, and three brothers-Walton, Melvin, and Harold.

 

Visitation will be held at the Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home in Waterville on Sunday, March 20, 2011 from 3-8 PM and continue on Monday, one hour before services at the church.

 

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 21, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter’s “Bell” Lutheran Church in rural Waterville with Rev. Russell Grabau officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery.
