NATHAN WILLIAM BOURASSA, age 87 of Waseca died Monday, March 10, 2008 at Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.
Born in Pembina, North Dakota on August 23, 1920, he was the son of William and Lillian (Slais) Bourassa. He graduated from Bemidji High School in 1938 and attended NYA Machinist and Welding school in Shakopee. Following his schooling, Nate worked at Waukesha Motors in Waukesha, WI before moving to Waseca and working at the EF Johnson Co. in 1941. During WWII, he served in the U.S. Army with the Combat Engineers. He served in the European Theater of Operations in England, France, and Germany as well as the Pacific Theater of Operations in the Philippines on the island of Luzon. While in the service, Nathan married Josephine Wardien at Mt. Calvary Church in Richfield on August 16, 1944. Following his honorable discharge in 1946, he returned to his job as Tool Maker at EF Johnson Co. and worked until his retirement in January 1985.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling, woodworking and spectator sports. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca where he had served as usher. He was a longtime member and past commander and historian of American Legion Post 228. He was also a life member of VFW Post 1642. Nathan also served on the board of directors for the Neighborhood Service Center.
He is survived by two children, Diana (Michael) Mullen of Eagan and Steven Bourassa of Rochester; eight grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Rolland (Alice) Bourassa of Waseca and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother in infancy, and one daughter-in-law, Tanja.
Visitation will be held at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca on Thursday, March 13, 2008 from 4-8 PM and continue on Friday, one hour before services at the church.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 14, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca with Rev. Terry Quick officiating. Burial will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca. |
