Lula C. Bechthold

 

LULA C. BECHTHOLD, age 96 of Waseca died on Friday, December 4, 2009, at Lake Shore Inn in Waseca.

Born in Colfax Township, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota on March 26, 1913, Lula was the daughter of George and Emma (Bierman) Smith.  She attended Georgeville District School in rural Stearns County.  On September 28, 1930 she was married to Edward Bechthold in Belgrade, Minnesota.  Over the years, she was employed in various locations.  After moving to Hopkins, Minnesota in 1959 she spent many years working for Northwest Airlines in Minneapolis.  She enjoyed making crafts, especially Christmas ornaments, as well as baking, canning, gardening, and playing cards.  She was a member of the Wilton Trinity Lutheran Church.

Lula is survived by seven children, Garlend (Elvina) Bechthold of Buffalo, David (Sandra) Bechthold of White Bear Lake, Mavis Kratz of Waseca, Lowell Bechthold of Isanti, Paul Bechthold of Phoenix, AZ, Ruth (Bob) Jellum of Waseca, and Ardis (Bob) Hilleren of Albertville; one daughter-in-law, Joan of Buffalo; one son-in-law, Hank Braith of Bovey; thirty-three grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Lois; one son, Roger; two granddaughters; one sister, Mildred; one brother, Ruben; and one son-in-law, Ray Kratz.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 12, 2009, at the Wilton Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Glenn Korb officiating.  Visitation will be held on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Wilton Trinity Lutheran Church. Arrangements are being handled by Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca.
