HAZEL E. ALLEN, age 94 of Waseca formerly of Waterville, died on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.
Born on February 20, 1916 in Waterville, Minnesota she was the daughter of Byron and Fannie (Robbins) Fowler. She attended school in Waterville graduating in 1933. Hazel married Wilfred Allen on September 18, 1937 at the First Baptist Church in Waterville and they were later divorced. Hazel worked at Luther’s Ben Franklin in Waterville as well as the Electric Service in Waterville before working as the secretary for the superintendent of the Waterville Public Schools for 20 years. Hazel was a member of the Elysian Assembly of God and the Daughters of the Union Veterans. She was an active volunteer conducting church services at the Waterville Good Samaritan Center for many years as well as doing volunteer driving for Le Sueur County.
She is survived by two sons, David Allen and his wife Keren of Cottage Grove and Richard Allen and his wife Evelyn of Franklin, NC. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers-Clifford, Kenneth, and Louis Fowler.
Visitation will be held at Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home in Waterville on Monday, October 25, 2010 from 4-7 PM and continue on Tuesday, one hour before services at the church.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Waseca Christian Assembly with Rev. Roy Andrews and Rev. Brad Wickersheim officiating. Burial will follow at Sakatah Cemetery in Waterville.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers. |
